Foods that help you lose weight
Did you know that there are foods that help you lose weight? And that you can add these foods to your diet and increase the fat burning effect of your weight loss efforts?
Introduction to foods that help you lose weight
It is not only important to know which are the foods that help you lose weight, but also how to combine these foods to get a maximum fat-burning effect. Learning how to effectively burn body fat (not muscle) is the essence of losing weight.
In this article I’ll list a few foods I myself have been adding to my own diet to increase the fat-burning effect, and which you can start adding to your own diet to help you lose weight.
List of foods that help you lose weight
If you don’t have any nut allergies, you can try almonds. 3 ounces of almonds eaten every day can help speed up the metabolism of fats. Keep your serving size to approximately 12.
Insulin is released into the bloodstream whenever there is an increase of sugar in your blood. Some foods will raise your blood sugar levels more than others. For example, eating chocolate will raise your blood sugar level more than eating a sweet potato.
When insulin is released into the blood to get the rid of any excessive amount of sugar, that sugar is stored rapidly as fat. You can prevent or decrease the increase of insulin, which takes place especially after a meal, by adding a dash of cinnamon to your food and by learning how to combine foods that help you lose weight.
Getting back to sweet potatoes, they are not only sweet – the good kind of sweet – but also high in fiber, which prevents that increase of insulin after a meal, which in turn may help you lose weight.
Oranges not only contain loads of vitamin C, but they can also help you slow down the rate at which you store body fat. And remember that fruits and vegetables can add extra bulk, that is, fiber to your diet.
Fiber not only helps you get that feeling of being full, but also helps keep your insulin levels low. You can add yet more fiber to your diet by eating lentils, beans, and other legumes.
And speaking about "feeling full", oats can also help you get there, because oatmeal has the highest satiety ranking of any food.
Foods that are rich in calcium help decrease fat-producing enzymes and increase the break-down of fat. Swiss cheese for example is high in calcium so can help you combat the fat.
Whole eggs can also be lumped in the category of foods that help you lose weight. You may have heard that they can be harmful for your heart and arteries, but I’ll let you in on a little secret: I’ve been eating an egg a day for the past year or so and to date have not yet experienced a heart attack – knock wood. Eggs contain protein that helps keep you full longer, and thus eat less later in the day.
Another one of my favorite foods to lose weight are avocados. While they are high in fat, they are high in the good kind of fat, that is, monounsaturated fat, which can help you lose weight. A few weeks back I bought 2 avocados, because they were on special. To my utmost surprise, I lost 1 kg that week, despite the fat and calories present in avocados. Give them a try; they work!
